In light of the deteriorating human rights situation following the September 2022 "Women, Life, Freedom" protests after the death of Tina Mahsa Amina who died while in custody for "improper attire", the Human Rights Council established an independent international fact-finding mission on the Islamic Republic of Iran for a period of one year. Since that time the mandate of the fact finding mission received several extensions.
The members were: Sara Hossain, chair (Bangladesh) Shaheen Sardar Ali (Pakistan) and Viviana Krsticevic (Argentina). See UN Human Rights Council page for the mandate, press releases, statements, documentation as well as related videos. |
