Lady Sara Louisa Blomfield, entitled Sitárih Khánum, (b. County Tipperary, Ireland 1859) passed away at 40 Belsize Grove in London. She was buried in Hampstead Cemetery, Borough of Camden, London. She was one of the first Irish people to become a Bahá'í. [BW8:651; SEBW109; Find a grave]
In Century of Light, the Universal House of Justice recognized the
contributions of “…Sara Lady Blomfield, whose social position lent added
force to the ardour with which she championed the teachings…”
Lady Blomfield used her social position in the English aristocracy to reach
others in her circle and to teach them about the Bahá'í Faith. The following
guidance from ‘Abdu’l-Bahá shows the importance of doing so, and Lady
Blomfield’s example is a source of inspiration for us to reach all those in our
own circles.
I hope that thou wilt ... endeavour to teach some high-ranking and
influential persons, for the hearts of the people have become attracted to the
Cause of God and their minds bewildered and enthralled by its awesome
grandeur. Those who occupy high positions, too, have become profoundly
receptive to its message. The loved ones of God should therefore make a
determined effort and guide these distinguished souls to the Cause.
