Eugene Smith   singer/songwriter, musician, Canada.

Originally from Ontario, Eugene Smith played professionally in Ontario, British Columbia and the Yukon Territory. After a ten year hiatus from music when he and his family moved to Penticton, Eugene formed Spirit Village with Bob Ryan in 1991. As the drummer for Spirit Village, Eugene contributes to the arrangements of the material as well as a new contribution, lyrics for two new Spirit Village songs. Eugene has been a Bahá´í since 1973.

Spirit Village is a five member band of musicians who are Bahá´ís from the Okanagan-Similkameen region in the interior of British Columbia, Canada that have been playing together since 1993. Their original songs promote peace and understanding, and share, from a universal perspective, the joy and pain of the individual's spiritual journey. Their contemporary style includes touches of rock, blues, classical, folk and western, and is enjoyed by people of all ages.

Spirit Village has recorded two albums of original music: the first, On Similar Ground was released in the spring of 1994, is available on cassette as a concert souvenir; the second, commercially recorded, Before the Moon was released in August 1995 is available on CD and cassette. They are currently finishing their next album, Centre of the Circle.
