Abstract:
The Guardian's letters reveal six features of his historicity: palingenesis and transitional history; providential synchronization; teleological history; organically whole history; periodisation of ages and epochs; history as community identity-creation.
Notes:
This paper is a shortened and modified version of `Providential History: The Renewal of an Ancient Idea,’ Chapter six of A Celestial Burning: The Writings of Shoghi Effendi. Below it is a simplified version of this paper, "Shoghi Effendi’s Concept of History."
