Flames swept through the dome of Bahá'í House of Worship which was nearing completion. Debris including aluminum and glass for the dome from the clerestory fell near 100 feet to the main level. Damage was estimated at $50,000. The loss due to the fire was covered by insurance and as a "blessing in disguise" because the Faith receive a great deal of publicity as a result of the incident.
