Here is a brief explanation of some of the questions you may have about WWWBoard.

Why didn't my post show up?

Your post most likely did not show up, because your browser did not reload the page, it simply pulled it out of cache. Please reload your browser and it should then appear.

Can I use html tags to format my posts, like I see you do?

Yes, you can insert html tags in your post. For example, to make a word italic, write angle brackets like <i>this</i> and you'll see this. You can also use <b>bold</b> text, <blockquote>indented text</blockquote>, or <a href=http://www.samplesite.com>enter hyperlinks</a>. The only exception is the ampersand, &, which the program will always render as &amp;. So that means you can't use special characters like &#146;.

HTML tags can only be used in the body of the message. But you can use tags in the body of your message. If you want to post a fully-formatted message, then format the entire thing in html yourself, remove *all* carriage returns (to prevent the script from adding them in itself, thus producing too many line breaks), and paste the source into the body of the posting.

Will I get spammed if I post my email address?

If you write your email address as yourname@yourhost.com, then email-collecting "bots" will harvest your email address and use it to send you spam. The solution is simple: just give it as yourname AT yourhost.com. That way humans can write to you, but spammers won't. When you're writing to someone, just make sure that you manually replace "AT" with "@" in their email address. (Techie note: you need to include the extra spaces in " AT " because some mail programs and bots are smart enough to recognize "at" as "@". But putting a space in an email address usually fools them. Try it—write to "wintersATbahai-library.com" and you'll be surprised to see that your email program will [probably] correctly interpret the address and send the email.)
