God Passes By Outline
Correlation with A Traveler's Narrative and The Dawn-Breakers

(Click here to view all the chapter outlines in one document (better for printing but slower for browsing).)

Click here to jump directly to the condensed or expanded contents for a specific chapter (potentially better as a base page than this one when exploring various chapters at once).

(See another outline of God Passes By (by Horace Holley) or an outline of A Traveler's Narrative and an outline of The Dawn-Breakers; there is also an excellent work for a study of the Writings (based on the thematic outlines of the Sacred Writings given in God Passes By)

Introductory Notes

The following outline of God Passes By (GPB) by Shoghi Effendi includes extended outline additional topic headings (beyond the original Table of Contents headings) only up to the point where cross-references have been found in A Traveler's Narrative (TN) or The Dawn-Breakers (DB) (Chapters 1-5 and 7).

The links on the left of the outline (to God Passes By) indicate the page number(s), the paragraph number(s) (if the whole page is not included), and the line numbers in the print version (if the whole paragraph is not included). The line numbers, though not useful with the present on-line version, can be used for those wishing to mark their print books with the topic and/or cross-references.

Clicking on a page number (in either column) will bring you to that page. Clicking on a heading in the condensed outline will bring you to the expanded outline, and clicking on a heading in the expanded outline will bring you back to the condensed outline. If the page number links are too small for you to conveniently access with your mouse, you might consider expanding the text size through your web browser (or if, on the contrary, you wish more of a bird's eye view, you could lower the text size).

Italicized headings reflect the original Table of Contents headings included in the print copy. Bolded non-italicized headings represent what are perceived by this author to be important headings for summing up the parts of the chapter not covered by the original headings. Non-bolded, non-italicized headings in the expanded outline (as subcategories) are aspects of or important details covered in the main topic/heading.

(Feel free to send Brett an email at if you have any suggestions, comments, or interest in collaboration on study materials.)

Further Projects

This God Passes By paragraph-by-paragraph outline might ideally be extended to the whole book (not just those passages correlated with A Traveler's Narrative or The Dawn-Breakers).

One might correlate this outline with Horace Holley's topical outline, adding in more detail to his outline (e.g., "Protagonists of Bábí period - p. 3-5").

Excerpts from The Promulgation of Universal Peace, Memorials of the Faithful, etc. might be correlated with the chapters contained herein.

Any errors found could be submitted to the Bahá'í World Centre also (see http://bahai-library.com/uhj/errors.godpassesby.html regarding some publication errors in God Passes By (p. 95)).
