Wrapping for a marginal citizen by Sonja van Kerkhoff, 1994

stills from the video

1994, 12 min,
music: Michel Verheecke (Belgium), voice: Sonja van Kerkhoff, actors: 6 children.
English with a few New Zealand Maaori words.

A piece about looking at the diverse and our definitions of what is central or normal in society. I want to create the feeling that you, the viewer, are like the cloth that hangs around the wall. To feel the position of standing (at the edge of society) or watching from the margins.

The children serve as symbols of survival, resistence and diversity. They are the main actors, and the words, the voice and the objects, (such as egg cups, boxs, and the long cloth) are the passive commentators.

There are video clips here (only avi files).
