Juan Leyva Palma was born in 1955 in northern Morocco in an artistic family from the Malaga area in southern Spain. He finished his studies at the school of visual arts in Sevilla in 1982 specializing in painting and started to exhibit his work regionally and nationally, which he still does.

A Bahá´í since 1975 and he has worked in Merida as an art teacher in a high school since 1985. Generally his paintings (which lately are also made digitally) are abstractions from the contemporary world around him. He is also active in various educational organizations for promoting the arts.
