Kathleen Bunin

painting, collage, Canada

Kathleen Bunin
with a detail from her assemblage,
dark night and sacred light,
monoprints and painted panels.

Kathleen Bunin currently works in assemblage, collage and watercolor. Her work deals with subjects concerning the spiritual side of being human and reflects on the Sacred Scriptures of the Bahá´í Faith and wrestles with the challenge of giving these thoughts a visual representation. Passion, detachment, prayer, are three recent themes in her work.

Untitled 2003, collage, 8 x 11 inches.

Kathleen Bunin is founder of the artist-run in.sight Gallery in Sydney Mines, Nova Scotia. There are 15 members who work on all aspects of running this type of gallery with six exhibits a year, workshops for artists, classes for adults and children, and drawing sessions available. New members are welcome, proposals for shows are welcome. There is no funding at this time, but proposals for artist's fees have been entered to the Nova Scotia Arts Council.

The theme of this work has to do with the subject of Pilgrimage and the memories that linger long after the soul has been stirred by the experience.

I am currently exploring the medium of collage and often incorporate monotype printing and found objects in the pieces.
